Hello there this is Peter from My Tech Tradie. Today I am going to walk you through how to restore the start menu in Windows 8. It is an issue a lot of our customers are coming across as they upgrade or purchase new PC's. So what we are going to do today is install an application that doesn't bring back the start menu but brings back its functionality. So first thing we need to do is go to the desktop, so click the desktop tile. We open up our web browser in this case internet explorer. There is a few programs that will do this some free, some you have to pay a few dollars. In this case there is a really good one by a company called iobit, iobit.com and it's free. Once on their home page select products and go down to Start Menu Windows 8. Click the free download button. This will takes us to an external site to download which is fine. Once that has loaded up we click Download Now. It is then going to prompt us what to do and we are going to run. The security scan has finished, so it is going to run installer. You will get a security warning that is ok just click yes. And then the actual installer will start. So it is fairly simple, next, accept the license agreement, accept the default location and then it will install. Once it is installed it is going to ask you if you want to install Advanced System Care Ultimate in most cases just un-tick that and go finish. It then comes up with settings. We can enable it to run at start up. In most cases you want to skip the metro screen all together, and then the rest of the settings should be ok so click ok. Then close our web browser. Then go down to start and as you can see it is very similar. We can go to our documents and you can go to all programs as well. So that is the end of this tutorial if this was a bit too quick for you and you wanted it slowly we do have a step by step available at www.mytechtradie.com.au/How-to
